  • Overview

    The Corporate Controller/Director of SEC Reporting will oversee the Accounting department and have ultimate responsibility for all aspects of the Company’s financial reporting process including preparation of the 10K & 10Q, preparation of the earnings release, and preparation of supporting workpapers. These functions include establishing and maintaining the organization's accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives. They will prepare financial reports and present findings and recommendations to senior management including the CFO and SVP of Accounting & Finance. The person in this position must rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.


    • Prepare and file all SEC periodic reports such as Forms 8-K, 10-Q, 10-K and Annual Report.
    • Coordinate, direct, plan and execute the external financial statement audit by a National CPA firm.
    • Research, document and implement all significant/relevant technical accounting standards.
    • Coordinate the preparation of annual tax filings with external accounting firm
    • Develop and implement business process improvement initiatives and strategies.
    • Hire, train, mentor and oversee accounting department staff.
    • Assist with various special projects as needed and directed


    • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting concentration
    • CPA required
    • Experience with SEC reporting, XBRL, Edgar, and Webfilings
    • Working experience and knowledge of internal controls and SOX
    • 7-10 years experience with increasing responsibilities in accounting, including management of staff
    • Solid grasp of GAAP requirements
    • Excellent computer skills, particularly Excel spreadsheet creation and management
    • Experience in audit compliance and preparation of accounting procedures
    • Experience with Sun and Yardi accounting software
    • Detail-oriented, strong organizational skills and ability to work independently
    • Excellent time management skills
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Desire to understand the business and partner with leadership to improve the overall business
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate amongst departments
    • Proven leadership and development of staff
